Thomas Ziffer
Thomas W. Ziffer was born and raised in New York to a family of artists. His grandfather was a professional graphic artist and his mother a dress designer. He now resides in Central Florida.
Proficient with a variety of mediums including acrylics, oils, colored pencils, as well as having a vast knowledge of different paint products. Using an airbrush with its full rich complexity, Thomas paints detailed images saturated with bold color. With the versatility of acrylics he achieves vibrancy with opaque paints custom mixed to render a photorealistic look.
Thomas attended The School of Visual Arts in N.Y.C. for animation, has worked with many scenic shops and major companies including The Walt Disney Co. MGM Scenic Shop, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, and has left his mark on many Central Florida residences, businesses, theme parks, and museums, as well as fine art with private collectors in the U.S. and Europe.
Thomas' art is influenced by Disney animation, illustration artists including NC Wyeth, Norman Rockwell, Frank Frazetta, the Old Masters such as Ruebens, Rembrandt, Bouguereau, as well as 1950's Sci-Fi movies and Star Trek The Original Series.
"Star Trek captured my imagination" said Thomas, because the show aired form 1966-1969 which was the height of the space race to the moon.
